With the announcement of the Booklet 3G ‘mini laptop’, it safe to assume that there will be more Nokia mobile computers in the future, and even though there are still have a lot of unclear details regarding their current offering, we’re know hearing that an ARM-based smartbook is already being planned for next year.

It was also revealed that the Nokia Booklet 3G was actually produced by Compal Electronics, and either them or Foxconn Electronics will be the one to make the next one. Further details are pretty scarce at the moment, but we’re pretty reluctant to get excited over it simply because it’s running on a much less capable and powerful ARM processor.

Creative MP3 Players

This summer when Microsoft and Apple revealed their redesigned mp3 players, their rectangular form was the only thing which tied them together. Other than Sony’s cylindrically shaped mp3 player few adventurous folks have broken the mould to show their creativity.

The proprietary dock connector on the iPod line is nice for a wide line of accessories, but it forces you to carry a uni-purpose iPod cable. The PocketDock lets you sync and charge with miniUSB, the accepted standard, instead.

SendStation's PocketDock, available now, is incredibly tiny, having "the same footprint as Apple's iPod plug," and features a 3.5mm jack in addition to the miniUSB. The 3.5mm jack lets you bypass the volume board used by the headphone jack, giving you clearer sound quality, just like a dock. It's pretty simple, and a little expensive at $30, but if you use a ton of miniUSB gadgets, it'll be worth it. [SendStation]

All the cool kids are building CULV-powered 11.6-inch miniature wonders, and Acer-owned Gateway is no exception. This new EC1803h unit (a rebadge of sorts of Acer's Timeline 1810T) just popped up in Canada, and has a lot in common with Gateway's LT2000 netbooks -- though somehow knowing there's a "real" processor underneath makes it seem just a bit more sexy. Unfortunately, the $600 Canadian (about $550 US) pricetag isn't quite as grand as the $400ish CULV laptops that Acer and Dell have been showing, but it's hard to fault the 3GB of RAM, 6 cell standard battery and 250GB hard drive. No word on when this will head to the States.
